Concept for equivalent fraction
How to find equivalent Fractions of any fraction
Question Show that $1/5$ , $6/30$ , $3/15$ , $2/10$ are equivalent fractions .
$1/5$ = $1/5$
$6/30$ = $6/{5×6}$ =$1/5$
$3/15$ = $3/{3×5}$ = $1/5$
$2/10$ = $2/{2×5}$ = $1/5$
Therefore all the fraction is reducible to $1/5$ , hence they are equivalent fractions.
Question : Find a fraction equivalent to $8/15$ with a numerator 32.
$8/15$ = $32/?$
Answer:
Since the numerator of both the fractions is given Numerator of first fraction $8/15$ is 8.
Numerator of second fraction is 32.
So if we divide 32 with 8 , the quotient is 4 .
So if we multiply first fraction with the Quotient 4 , it gives
${8×4}/{15×4}$ = $32/60$ Hence the equivalent fraction is $32/60$
Question: Find the fraction equivalent to $8/15$ with the denominator 60.
$8/15$ = $?/60$
Answer Since the denominator of both the fractions is given.
The denominator are 15 and 60 .
Therefore on dividing $60/15$ , the quotient is 4 .
So , if we multiply numerator and denominator of first fraction with the quotient 4, it give the required answer.
${8×4}/{15×4}$ = $32/60$
Therefore 32 is the answer.
